The fifth annual Taiwan Film Festival in Brisbane was held from the 8th to the 12th of October 2021 at Cinema 3 HOYTS Sunnybank Plaza and the Queensland Parliament House. This vibrant event showcased an impressive selection of Taiwanese films, highlighting the depth and diversity of Taiwanese cinema and culture.

The festival opened with Chen Uen’s epic "千年一問" (Chen Uen), celebrating the legendary illustrator’s life and work. Audiences were then treated to a range of feature films and documentaries, including "A Foley Artist," which takes viewers behind the scenes of Taiwan’s film sound industry, and "Pusu Qhuni," a moving historical drama about the Seediq people and their fight for survival.

Saturday’s program featured "Wawa No Cidal," an inspiring story about indigenous children and their connection to their homeland, followed by "Ohong Village," which beautifully captures life in a traditional coastal village. Nature lovers enjoyed "Formosan B.B. Is Coming," a documentary exploring Taiwan’s black bear and its mountainous habitat, while "A Family Tour" wrapped up the festival with a touching autobiographical journey.
