The 2022 Taiwan Film Festival in Brisbane kicked off with the beloved Taiwanese classic, "Legend of the Sacred Stone," a martial arts film that showcases the magic of Pili Puppet Theatre. The festival continued with three heartwarming and high-quality documentaries: "Man and His Sea," which tells the touching story between a man and the ocean; "Finding Far," about a Kiwi dad coming to Taiwan to retrace his son’s footsteps; and "A Life on the Edge of the Sea," which shares the migration story of a Taiwanese grandmother who moved to Ishigaki Island in Okinawa during the Japanese era and led her family to flourish there.
For the closing night, the festival screened "My Missing Valentine," a charming romantic comedy directed by Yu-Hsun Chen, winner of five Golden Horse Awards in 2020. The film’s light-hearted plot and strong sense of Taiwanese warmth made it the perfect way to wrap up the festival.
